I have always been passionate about helping others. I came to this profession through a mid-life career change and I believe that my life experience greatly enhances my ability to work with a wide variety of clients in support of their goals. I would describe my demeanor as warm, supportive, and playful, though I take my clients' issues very seriously. I believe that my ability to develop a strong connection with clients is a key component to their progress in therapy. My role is to provide you with a safe space in which to explore issues of importance to you, as well as to foster insight and give you tools to increase your well-being.
I am interested in working with individuals, couples, and families who are committed to the sometimes difficult work involved in the therapeutic process. Particular areas of focus for me at this time include working with women in all stages of life, helping young adults forge identities separate from, and in harmony with, their families, and healing from trauma.
Prior to becoming licensed, I was an associate marriage and family therapist at BAPTI in Lafayette, CA working with adolescents and adults for over two years. Prior to that, I worked as a school-based counselor in a West Oakland, CA elementary school, as a therapeutic behavioral services clinician serving children and adolescents and their parents in Contra Costa County, CA, and facilitated groups for adults dealing with the death or life-threatening illness of a partner. I am also a parent of two grown children who was highly involved in school and community volunteering, including service on two nonprofit boards.
