I have been an associate marriage and family therapist at BAPTI in Lafayette, CA working with adolescents and adults since October, 2018. Prior to that, my experience included working as a school-based counselor in a West Oakland elementary school, working as a therapeutic behavioral services clinician serving children and adolescents in Contra Costa County on a 1:1 basis, and facilitating groups for adults dealing with the death or life-threatening illness of a partner.
I came to this profession through a mid-life career change from primarily supporting a diverse range of child and adult students. I am also a parent of two grown children who was highly involved in volunteering, including service on two nonprofit boards.
I am passionate about helping others and I believe that my life experience greatly enhances my ability to work with a wide variety of clients in support of their goals. I would describe my demeanor as warm, supportive, and playful, though I take my clients' issues very seriously. I believe that my ability to develop a strong connection with clients is a key component to their progress in therapy. My role is to provide you with a safe space in which to explore issues of importance to you, as well as to foster insight and give you tools to increase your well-being.
I am interested in working with individuals, couples and families who are committed to the sometimes difficult work involved in the therapeutic process. Particular areas of focus for me at this time include working with women in all stages of life, providing parenting support, and helping teens and young adults' develop their identities.
